Why switch to Teflon-free, non-toxic air fryers? 

The primary issue with most air fryers that are available to us is that they feature a basket made with a non-stick coating, typically PTFE (also known as Teflon). 

Teflon-coated cookware and appliances are super easy to clean and cook with because food doesn’t stick to them.

PTFE is an unregulated chemical that belongs to the PFAS family, which consists of what we often call “forever chemicals”.

Aluminum is bioaccumulative and a neurotoxin, and can leach into your food, as well.

Are any air fryers safe for your health? What to look for when shopping for Teflon-free, non-toxic air fryers?

When shopping for non-toxic air fryers, look for models made of:

• Stainless steel
• Glass
• Ceramic or a ceramic coating

Avoid those that contain PFAS, BPA, phthalates, or any other harmful substances.

If they’re made with a “non-stick coating” that is not ceramic, you can be fairly certain that they contain toxic chemicals you don’t want near your food!

If a brand doesn’t disclose what its appliances are made of, refrain from buying its products. 

Also, be aware that some air fryers are made with safe materials but come with accessories that may be problematic. 

For instance, some appliances may be made of stainless steel, yet they are sold with Teflon or aluminum pans.
