12 BEST ORGANIC COTTON UNDERWEAR BRANDS THAT WILL TAKE OVER YOUR UNDIES DRAWER

This article is all about organic cotton underwear brands!

Most undergarments we can buy nowadays, whether that’s online or at a store, are made of synthetic materials and/or dyed with toxic chemicals.

Not only is this problematic for the environment, but wearing such underwear all day can have adverse effects on our health down there.

That’s why, particularly when it comes to underwear, we should only choose pieces made of natural, non-toxic, and organic fabrics.

In this article, I’ve rounded up the 12 best organic cotton underwear brands selling undies that are not only sustainable but also healthy to wear.

This blog post contains affiliate links which means that if you buy something through such links, I will get a small commission without any extra cost for you. It’s not sponsored, but some products were gifted (by Organic Basics). Please read my Disclosure for more details.

What is the healthiest underwear material?

If we want our private parts to be as healthy as possible, we should only wear underwear made with absorbent, breathable fabrics.

It means we should avoid synthetic materials at all costs to prevent yeast infections.

Those trap moisture and heat and don’t allow the area to breathe.

Instead, we should always opt for natural fabrics, such as organic cotton, Tencel lyocell, or hemp.

In this article, we’ll focus on organic cotton, but it’s great to keep in mind that it’s not the only healthy, sustainable option.

In this article, you'll find the 12 best organic cotton underwear brands for all-day comfort.

What is the difference between 100% cotton and organic cotton? Is organic cotton better for underwear?

Unlike organic cotton, conventional cotton is grown using pesticides and herbicides.

It’s actually one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world.

Using pesticides and herbicides causes detrimental effects on the environment and human health.

One of the most commonly used herbicides, the Roundup, contains glyphosate, which is believed to be a “probable carcinogen” by the WHO.

That’s not all.

Conventional cotton processing often involves the use of other hazardous substances such as flame retardants, ammonia, formaldehyde, toxic dyes, and more.

So, while cotton underwear is much better than pieces made of synthetic materials, we should stay away from it if we can.

Instead, we should opt for organic cotton underwear.

Organic cotton isn’t made with pesticides or herbicides, and growing it promotes healthy soils and doesn’t contribute to environmental pollution.

Plus, brands using it usually color their clothes with non-toxic dyes.

Overall, organic pieces are a lot less likely to contain harmful chemicals and they’re much better for the planet.

What to look for when shopping for organic cotton underwear?

Ideally, we should try and buy underwear made of 100% organic cotton.

Unfortunately, these are trickier to find (you’ll still find some in this article).

So if the piece you get contains a few percent of elastane in the elastic, that’s okay.

To make sure the cotton is organic, opt for undies that are GOTS-certified.

We should also get underwear dyed with non-toxic dyes and carrying third-party certifications that guarantee it’s completely free of harmful chemicals.

The best one you should look for is OEKO-TEX Standard 100.

What’s more, buy from brands that have implemented different sustainable practices.

Their products will be better for the planet!

For instance, they may have taken steps to save energy or reduce waste in their supply chain.

Some of the most ethical and sustainable clothing brands have received certifications such as B Corp, Fairtrade, or Climate-Neutral.
